Women in eDiscovery Announces Educational Session and “Go Red” Campaign at LegalTech New York

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—January 14, 2013— Women in eDiscovery, a non-profit organization that brings together women interested in technology related to the legal profession, today announced that it once again will support the American Heart Association’s “Go Red” campaign and host an educational session at LegalTech New York.

Every year, Women in eDiscovery offers its members and other LegalTech attendees the opportunity to network and participate in panel discussions that share the knowledge and expertise of the organization. In addition to its educational discussion, attendees also will have the opportunity to participate in a “Go Red” campaign that raises heart-disease awareness.

All LegalTech attendees, exhibitors, and Women in eDiscovery members are invited to participate in these events, which are at the Hilton New York’s Trianon Ballroom on Thursday, January 31. Kiersted Systems, the exclusive sponsor of the session and also an exhibitor at LegalTech, is providing its meeting space for the Women in eDiscovery session, which is from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM, as part of the Government Investigations and Litigation Track.

Through its strategic alliance with LegalTech, Women in eDiscovery members are eligible for a discounted Master Pass to the conference. Please contact Amy Juers for details at pr@womeninediscovery.org.

LegalTech Educational Session

The session, titled “Valued Partners in the New Age of Corporate eDiscovery Management,” offers an all-star panel that will lead a practical discussion about the changing role of law firms and service providers as corporations seek to reduce eDiscovery costs and generally manage the process more effectively. Women in eDiscovery’s contribution is “Learn the in-house perspective: how well are law firms and providers adapting to the changing dynamic, and where is the need for improvement?” Given this new landscape, what solutions do law firms and providers offer that align with clients’ case objectives to manage risks while reducing costs in this area?

The session will be moderated by Florinda Baldridge, Global Director of Practice Support at Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P., and panelists include Charlotte Riser Harris, Manager, Practice Support at Hess Corporation; Lynn Dummett, Senior Vice President and Senior Counsel, Allianz Global Investors U.S.; Raquel Tamez, Principal, Litigation and e-Discovery at CSC, Inc.; and Gail Gottehrer, Litigation Partner at Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider LLP.

“Go Red” Campaign

This campaign was such a success in terms of attendance and donations last year that Women in eDiscovery is participating in it again this year. The first 75 session attendees will receive a lovely red-dress pin, and then, members and attendees will have the option to donate $5.00 for a raffle ticket for a chance to win two lavish gift totes donated by Kiersted Systems. All proceeds will go to the American Heart Association. Anyone who donates online also will be included in the drawing. Winners need not be present to win. Click http://honor.americanheart.org/goto/wie2013 and donate today. Our goal last year was $2,012 and this year it is $2,013.

Since its inception, Women in eDiscovery has grown to more than 5,000 members and 27 chapters. The organization’s members comprise women from all walks of life, including general counsel, law firm partners, associates, chief operating officers, paralegals, litigation support staff members, and eDiscovery professionals.

“Once again, we’d like to thank Henry Dicker of LegalTech and the entire LegalTech staff as well as Kiersted Systems for the meeting space and campaign contributions,” stated Margaret Havinga, co-founder of Women in eDiscovery. “Our members should be very excited about this year’s event, as it marks one of the few times we can feel the powerful contribution of our membership and the organization as a whole.”
