Biscom Bolsters BYOD and Mobile Security with iPad App Enhancements

Enhancements further secure the exchange of privileged and regulated information in the legal environment

Chelmsford, MA – Jan. 21, 2013 – As Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and the adoption of multiple mobile devices to conduct business gather stronger acceptance in the legal community, Biscom, provider of the legal industry’s most trusted document exchange technology, today announced enhancements to its iPad application that further secure mobile document exchange.

The new additions to Biscom’s iPad app extend secure transfer to all files on an iPad, including documents, photographs and videos. Legal professionals can now create secure mobile deliveries of documents, files and multimedia that were downloaded from other iPad apps such as email or document management systems.

This advanced feature joins the initial iPad functionality that allowed users to receive secure Biscom deliveries and securely send documents initially downloaded by the Biscom app.

“Legal IT departments are struggling with the burden of not only supporting personal mobile devices such as iPads and mobile communications in general but also with ensuring the security of all transactions completed on those devices. At the same time, attorneys and legal professionals need intuitive software to protect their document exchanges while keeping them focused on practicing law, not learning new applications. Biscom’s iPad app satisfies both parties with its ability to secure file transfers to satisfy client confidentiality and government regulations while offering a simple interface for iPad users,” said Charles Magliato, Legal Practice Director of Biscom.

From an iPad, an attorney can initiate a Biscom secure transfer from his or her email, PDF annotation app or other iPad app. The transfer is uploaded to the Biscom secure server. Recipients then receive notice of a pending Biscom delivery that contains a link. Pre-registered and authorized parties can access the information and the attorney will receive notice of delivery and opening for auditing purposes.  The recipients can then review, edit or simply reply to the original message and return it as an equally secured delivery with the click of a button.

Biscom secure document exchange solutions – including its iPad application - are in use in three of the top-10 AmLaw firms and a growing number of the AmLaw 200 and include more than 10,000 users worldwide.
