ALPHALIT Releases E-Predict to Offer Clients a
Common Sense Solution to Predictive Coding
Huntingdon Valley, PA, January 22, 2013 — AlphaLit, a nationally recognized full service provider of litigation support services, today announced the release of E-Predict, its advanced auto coding software.
By combining cutting-edge technology with AlphaLit’s proven review and batching system, users can defensibly eliminate a majority of their data almost immediately. “If you are familiar with any of the popular document review systems, then you already know how to use E-Predict, that’s how easy and straightforward it is” says AlphaLit founder Dale Drury. “We have taken an incredibly intuitive approach to technology assisted review,” he adds.
By applying a simplified and defensible workflow E-Predict users have quickly reduced their potentially responsive populations by up to 80%. While the technology scores documents based on client driven confidence levels, legal teams can fully focus on evaluating and tagging a small percentage of records, without sacrificing accuracy.
The E-Predict process begins with a series of training sets, which the software creates from random samples of potentially relevant data. Subject matter experts review and tag these training sets for responsiveness, privilege, hot and other designations.
E-Predict then processes and replicates results along with a unique QC feature called “Disagreements” (documents where the decision of the human reviewer is inconsistent with that of AlphaLit’s proprietary technology).
Once E-Predict determines that additional training will not improve results, it assigns and ranks each document with a score from 0 to 1 with 0 being the least responsive. Documents are then batched and ranked by their score and an efficient review strategy is employed.
Using an industry-leading quality control process and random sampling protocols, E-Predict virtually eliminates any review of the non-responsive set, reducing the discovery burden by 50% to 80%. In fact, AlphaLit consultants statistically document this process and the results.
“While the underlying technology employed by E-Predict is mature and proven, it’s really the simplified process, and the support of AlphaLit’s Consultants and Project Management team that make it so valuable to our clients”, stated Mike Eck, Director of Client Services. “We guide the process to eliminate the possibility of failure. The results are assured.”
With clients focusing on efficiency, compressed time frames, and static budgets, AlphaLit’s new advanced coding empowers legal team members to streamline the search for and identification of “hot” documents, red-flag potential privilege misses, and almost completely automate first-pass review. While the fundamental and critical review tasks still need to be done, E-Predict allows clients to dramatically cut review costs by simply reducing the non-responsive document set – all within a defensible and common sense workflow.
