Capital Novus - Financial Investigation and Litigation (case study)

A prominent asset management group engaged Capital Novus to assist with an SEC investigation involving custodians representing approximately one sixth of their total number of employees, and covering a seven-year period.  For the client to utilize its existing in-house software posed a challenge, as the tool would have required several months to extract the relevant information, and may not have been able to handle such an extensive extraction at all. Capital Novus was able to reverse engineer the extraction process from their archival system and effectively decrease the response time while successfully extracting the data.  The e-Discovery team accomplished this by ingesting a complete copy of the client’s archive into Capital Novus’ proprietary document review platform, eZReview™. The team was then able to engineer a solution to process this large data set of non-standard email file types.
