DocSolid CIO Spotlight: Michael Shannon of Dechert, LLC #LTNY #LeagalIT

An international law firm with offices throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, Dechert has top-ranked, world-class practices in corporate and securities, complex litigation, finance and real estate and financial services and asset management.

In 2007, Michael Shannon, the firms’ CIO, began his evaluation of law firm document imaging solutions which led to the firm’s adoption of DocSolid’s KwikTag.

According to Michael:

There were multiple business problems that led to our pursuit of a document imaging solution. One was the fact that there were huge costs associated with working with paper. Think about on-site storage, for example. We calculated that it cost roughly $52 per month for the 1.5 square feet it takes to store just six boxes. Extrapolate this to cover our thousands of boxes and you’re looking at a large recurring sum. Second, working with paper is inefficient when it comes to sharing and searching its content. It takes much longer to pull a paper file than an electronic one. Paper is useless from a disaster recovery point of view. From a day-to-day perspective, administrative tasks associated with reviewing, sharing and mailing paper take lawyers away from the task at hand. We knew that, along with other success criteria, one of the big ones would be the fact that a lawyer should never have to leave his or her desk to scan paper during the imaging process.

Read on to find out why Michael says, "KwikTag allowed us to address our business problems in an efficient, easily adoptable manner."
