Datacert Empowers Corporate Counsel to Optimize e-Discovery Spend Management
Datacert product capabilities expanded to support new e-Discovery UTBMS codes
HOUSTON – July 28 -- Datacert, Inc., the premier global provider of enterprise legal management
solutions, announced that Passport™, a patent-pending technology platform, AIMS® (Advanced Invoice Management System), a legal spend management system, and CLD® (Corporate Legal Desktop), an integrated matter and legal spend management solution, have been expanded to support the newly released e-Discovery UTBMS code set. These codes allow legal service providers to discretely codify charges on electronic invoices for the e-Discovery-related work they perform for their corporate clients, providing the client much greater visibility into litigation-related costs.
“e-Discovery is a considerable and growing expenditure for corporate legal departments, but the lack of an industry standard for tracking spend throughout each phase of the e-Discovery process has made it difficult for corporate counsel to analyze all cost drivers,” said Mark Poag, general counsel and senior vice president, Datacert. “The new standard UTBMS code set will help remove this barrier and, by expanding our products to leverage the new codes, Datacert is empowering corporate counsel to effectively track and analyze e-Discovery spend and more strategically manage the sourcing of work for each phase of the process.”
The LEDES® (Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard) Oversight Committee (LOC), an international organization of legal industry representatives who create and maintain open standard formats for the electronic exchange of billing and other information between corporations and law firms, approved 34 new e-Discovery codes in mid-July. Datacert immediately began expanding its solutions when the draft codes were released in February 2011. The company has now completed all necessary updates and has already started implementing the new codes for multiple clients.
“Datacert’s global market leadership partially results from our aggressive product strategy that requires us to continuously enhance our solutions so that they provide on-going value to customers and address evolving industry demands,” said Poag. “We are proud that, in just a short time, Datacert solutions can support the submission of invoices containing the new codes.”
