Recommind Names 451 Research Cofounder Nick Patience Director of Product Marketing and Strategy
SAN FRANCISCO — January 11, 2012 — Recommind, the leader in predictive information management software, today announced that it has hired 451 Research cofounder and research director Nick Patience as its Director of Product Marketing and Strategy.
One of the information management industry’s most respected analysts, Patience brings years of experience and a wealth of industry knowledge to Recommind in fields such as search, content management, text analytics and business intelligence. At 451 Research, he focused especially on information governance, eDiscovery and other technologies for managing the risks of unstructured data and transforming data into a corporate asset.
“As an analyst, I had the opportunity to become deeply familiar with different vendors and their technologies,” Patience said. “After years covering information management, it is clear to me that Recommind is leading innovative change in the industry.”
“To take the most obvious example, Recommind’s Predictive Coding technology is head and shoulders above anything else on the market. Not only does it have superior technology in its CORE platform, but it has the advantage of a patented workflow developed with some of the world’s largest law firms. That legal know-how is not something you can just replicate overnight. Other vendors may claim to offer predictive coding, but Recommind’s leadership in this area is clear.”
“That said, what’s most exciting to me about Recommind is that it’s poised to change not just the legal industry, but the financial, insurance and pharmaceutical industries, and so many others as well. Its CORE technology can be used to solve almost any kind of Big Data problem where organizations are staggering under information overload and leaving themselves at risk because they can’t distinguish the data they need from the data they don’t. With corporate data growing at the rate it is, those problems are everywhere. The opportunity to help solve those problems and transform the enterprise from the inside out was irresistible.”
Patience will be based in London, where he will lead a global team tasked with developing marketing strategy across Recommind’s products.
“Nick Patience’s reputation speaks for itself,” said Recommind CEO Bob Tennant. “Nick understands not only what information management technology can do now, but what it will be able to do two, five and ten years from now. He grasps how analytics dovetail with eDiscovery, and eDiscovery with compliance, and how all those aspects of information management can come together in new ways to solve the problems of what the industry is now calling Big Data. As such, his decision to join the Recommind team is a powerful endorsement of our products and vision. We’ve gained great benefit from Nick’s advice and insight over the years, and it’s a distinct pleasure to be able to work with him as a colleague.”
