Defending Data: Cybersecurity Maturity Reflects Growth in How Corporations Manage and Protect Information From Increasingly Sophisticated Threats
Our third annual Defending Data report finds that businesses are maturing their cybersecurity capabilities but many security executives aren’t sure which are the most effective technologies—and people are still the biggest problem.
The report's findings show:
- 97% of security executives surveyed agreed that human behavior was their greatest vulnerability
- Nearly four in five respondents said they had increased spending on data breach detection in the past year; 72% plan to do so next year
- 52% said preventing data breaches was their top spending priority while 42% said detection was their primary focus
- Only 24% used scare campaigns to convey important security ideas, down from 39% last year.
