Japan’s Leading E-Discovery Provider Achieves Lateral Data’s Viewpoint Gold Status

Japan’s Leading E-Discovery Provider Achieves Lateral Data’s Viewpoint Gold Status

Highest certification available demonstrates international e-discovery provider’s excellence in service delivery for Viewpoint end users along with expertise in helping law firm and corporate clients meet challenges of growing cross-border discovery requirements

TOKYO and HOUSTON, TX, May 20, 2013 - Lateral Data, a Xerox company, and Ji2, a Japanese-based provider of electronic discovery services and computer forensics solutions for law firms and corporate legal departments, today announced that Ji2 has achieved Viewpoint Premium Gold Certified status.

Viewpoint Premium Gold is the highest certification level an organization can achieve, and is based on an evaluation of infrastructure, experience using Viewpoint and individual certifications held by its employees. Ji2 is the first Viewpoint partner in the Asia Pacific region to achieve Viewpoint Premium Gold status.

“We are dedicated to providing exceptional e-discovery services to our clients, and are thrilled to have achieved best-of-breed status leveraging Viewpoint,” said Ted Fujisawa, CEO of Ji2. “Furthermore, Viewpoint is a distinct competitive advantage in ensuring our clients meet their complex cross-border legal compliance requirements.”

Ji2 is headquartered in Tokyo, with an office in Cypress, California and a newly launched office in Taipei, Taiwan, which has enabled the company to expand its Chinese e-discovery services in Asia. Ji2 supports cross-border litigation involving Japanese, Chinese and Korean languages, and handles the technical and linguistic issues encountered in each matter.

As businesses in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region expand globally, an increasing number have been involved in U.S.-based litigation. Unlike jurisdictions in many APAC countries that either limit discovery or have strict data protection and privacy laws that prohibit the unrestricted export of such information, the U.S. has stringent e-discovery rules that often require the exchange of massive amounts of documents among all parties. As a result, corporations and their law firms in many APAC countries are equipping themselves with robust e-discovery technology to successfully prepare for cross-border matters. Viewpoint enables clients to conduct upstream tasks on premise, such as collection, processing, early case assessment and initial review, while ensuring that only responsive data is sent to the U.S.

Viewpoint, which supports full Asian language processing, search and review, offers a full set of integrated capabilities, including collection, processing, early case assessment, analytics, review, case administration and production, that streamline and simplify the e-discovery process. Typically, organizations deploy numerous disparate products to manage different parts of the e-discovery process, which can be costly, inefficient and expose the firm and client organization to risk. Viewpoint eliminates that need, creating greater efficiencies in the process, reducing overall costs and mitigating risk associated with moving sensitive data between tools. Additionally, Viewpoint’s massively scalable architecture allows for the processing of a Terabyte of data or more per day, giving clients the ability to quickly conduct early case assessments and analyze relevant data prior to review.

“Ji2 has a track record for delivering exceptional e-discovery solutions to their clients, and we are excited to recognize Ji2 as a Premium Gold partner,” said Matt Berry, CEO of Lateral Data.
