As technology continues to evolve and advance at an unprecedented pace, new and unforeseen eDiscovery challenges are emerging. Personal computers have been largely supplanted by smartphones and tablets as the primary devices people use to conduct business, socialize, and access the internet. Storage capacity in these types of devices is routinely measured in the tens or hundreds of gigabytes and, in some cases, even terabytes. These are volumes which just a few years ago were only found in servers. Additionally, virtually any modern consumer product that incorporates electronic components—including automobiles and refrigerators—is likely to include some sort of data storage and the ability to connect to local network or cloud resources.
